New Adventures - ‘Bring it On’ - Keukenhof Tulips

“A tulip doesn’t strive to impress anyone. It doesn’t struggle to be different than a rose. It doesn’t have to. It is different. And there’s room in the garden for every flower.” – Marianne Williamson

On our first full day in Holland, we visited the stunning tulip fields surrounding the Keukenhof tulip grounds. We biked for miles through the country side and small towns taking in the allure of spring in Holland. I was in awe by the sites and ticked off another bucket list item. I did get us lost twice during this experience of a lifetime, but it was well worth it! My mom would have loved these fields of color and glorious scents and I felt her presence with us along the way!

We also went to the actual Keukenhof tulip gardens.

Tips for visiting Keukenhof…

  1. If you don’t like crowds, you may not want to visit the actual gardens. Even on a cold day, the place was packed.

  2. Consider a bike ride along around the Keukenhof area; the fields are full of color and you get to see more of Holland.

  3. If you want to do both, as we did; go to the gardens early and then bike along the country fields.

  4. And…if you plan on bicycling through the country, wear warm clothes - it was about 50 degrees and overcast with occasional sunshine, so it was felt quite cool. Gloves and a hat are a must as well as a good windbreaker.
