““Accomplishment will prove to be a journey, not a destination.” –Dwight D. Eisenhower

"Change will not come if we wait for some other person or some other time. We are the ones we've been waiting for. We are the change that we seek." — Barack Obama

Today, I give thanks and appreciation to our Presidents who made positive change for our nation. There are many, but I am highlighting one republican and one democrat -- both whom I respect.

Eisenhower, as president, created our vast Interstate Highway System, the Department of Health, Education and Welfare (now known as the Department of Health and Human Services and the Department of Education). Some called him the 'first citizen of the world'. I believe he set up our nation and the relationships with the world to move forward positively.

Obama, as president, the first black American president, passed the Affordable Care Act of 2010, ended the Iraq War, and strengthened International diplomacy and cooperation - leading to the 2009 Nobel Peace Prize. Obama is another president who saw the value of international relationships, as well as taking care of our citizens.

Positive relationships are essential for moving forward at all levels and both Eisenhower and Obama should be emulated!
